THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE MIC
We aren’t just commentators; we are creatives in the trenches with you. We know what it takes to stare down a blank page, navigate the publishing industry, and get the work done.
CJ Aggett
CJ is an author, podcaster, and screenwriter hailing from South Wales. Operating primarily in the realms of horror and crime fiction, he is the author of the standalone horror novel The Words of Eleven and the Deep novella series. His creative grit is fueled by a highly unique background—from serving as a British Army veteran to teaching within the secure estate—which brings an authentic, grounded edge to his storytelling and Welsh crime projects. A familiar face in the industry, CJ has spent the last five years moderating live panels at the prestigious Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival in Harrogate.
Christopher Hooley
Chris is an English teacher, self-published author, and the co-host of The WCCS. Based in Manchester, he knows firsthand the endurance required to bring a book to the finish line—his debut novel, Death, Just Grin and Bear It, was a seven-year labor of love. As an educator and a writer, Chris brings a sharp editorial eye and a deep respect for the creative process to the microphone. With a signature blend of wit and genuine gratitude for his readers, he understands exactly how precious time is for a busy creative, ensuring every episode delivers real, actionable value.
After building an archive of over 400 live author interviews, we’ve refined our broadcast for the busy creative. The WCCS Unplugged is a sharper, 30-minute audio-only weekly format. We cut through the noise to bring you the latest publishing industry news, deep dives into book-to-media adaptations, and showcases of independent bands to fuel your writing sessions.
